Jimmy Bullard Could Be The Best Bit of Business So Far

This transfer window has been an interesting one to say the least. Manchester City’s high-profile attempts to bring in Kaka and Roque Santa Cruz have dominated the headlines but from the transfer of Jimmy Bullard from Fulham to Hull City could prove to be the most influential.

After their impressive start the Tigers have gone from European contenders to looking nervously over their shoulders at the relegation places. European ambitions may have been a bit too high for a team making their debut in the Premier League. However, it had seemed they might have already done enough to avoid the drop but with the league so tight this is no longer true. Hull City are now just six points above the drop zone and with no win in the league since the sixth of December things were starting to look a bit shaky at the KC Stadium. Phil Brown may be lacking in experience as a top-flight manager but is seems as if the ‘Tango man’ has got the insight too see how much a player like Bullard can lift his side.

Brown may occasionally be guilty of some dodgy garments and spending a bit too much time in the tanning salon but he is undoubtedly a man who knows his football. Hull have struggled to maintain possession in the games I’ve watched of theirs lately, they have also struggled to score and it is in both these areas Bullard excels. He is an extremely intelligent player with a cracking shot on him and he should make a huge impact at Hull. With Bullard amongst their ranks it might be time to start backing Hull City again with your online soccer betting.

I have to admit I was surprised when the Tigers managed to secure Bullard’s signature. I know Bolton were definitely interested in the midfielder and rumours circulated that Arsenal had an eye on him, so his choice of a move to Hull City raised a few eyebrows. I’m sure the reported £50,000 a week wages helped to twist his arm but again I don’t believe Bullard is a player solely interested in money.

Whether Bullard will prove the missing piece to the Hull City puzzle remains to be seen. His recent inclusion in the England squad shows how respected he is as a player but stopping Hull’s current slump is a massive task. I’m not going to offer any football betting tips on Hull avoiding the drop just yet but the signature of Bullard will give Hull an edge over their competitors. They’ve also let Marlon King go, another good move if the player was causing unrest in the dressing room. King’s replacement comes in the shape of Manchester United loanee Manucho, I haven’t seen much of the Angolan yet but he arrives with a big reputation and everyone at the KC Stadium will be hoping he lives up to it.
