Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp sealed the transfer of Portsmouth striker Jermain Defoe for £15.75million in the early hours of this morning.
The Spurs boss insisted there are no dirty tricks behind the deal - and their attempts to sign Middlesbrough and England winger Stewart Downing.
As revealed in Sportsmail yesterday, the north London club secured the deal for the 26-year-old after Spurs chairman Daniel Levy and Portsmouth chief executive Peter Storrie lashed out the transfer fee.
