Ramsey Makes International Debut

Versatile footballer Aaron Ramsey continued his impressive rise to the top by earning his first international cap despite his relative raw age of 17.

The young Gunner was brought to north London in the summer after featuring in just half of one full season for Cardiff City, during which he was a key component of the team that progressed to the FA Cup final.

The teenager’s most notable contribution was in the Welsh capital club’s 2-0 quarter-final win over Premier League club Middlesbrough.

Wales boss John Toshack has introduced a new regime where he is blooding new talent early so that they are ready for the future – and Ramsey slotted superbly into the centre of the Dragons’ midfield.

Craig Bellamy scored the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win over Denmark. Ramsey’s club-mate Nicklas Bendtner featured for the Danes, and was a threat in front of goal, but failed to put the ball in the net.

Spanish playmaking midfielder Francesc Fabregas will miss Arsenal’s weekend match against Manchester City through suspension, and therefore an opportunity to start a Premier League tie may be handed to Aaron Ramsey.

Fabregas has picked up five yellow cards so far this season and so is banned for one game.
